Signed by Billy Bremner after a prolific time at Hull and
Sheffield United, Keith Edwards never quite managed to make the
same impression at Leeds - a club he had trials for in his youth.
He joined Leeds at the start of the 86-87 season with Billy's side
pushing for promotion, but for once his goal ratio didn't come up
to scratch.
One famous goal he did score for Leeds came in the semi-final of
the FA Cup against Coventry - his last-minute header levelling the
scores and taking the game into extra time before Leeds finally
succumbed. He returned to Hull halfway through the 1987-88 season
and continued his career with a large number of other clubs and
continuing to find the back of the net.
Wirral Blade says: I was Keith's no.1 fan when he was a Blade.
He was not a grafter but nobody could finish a one on one with the
keeper like Edwards. He had a great partnership with Colin Morris
another alltime great at Bramall Lane. Edwards could often be seen
at the greyhound races at Hillsborough.
Ali Edwards says: My brother's name is Keith Edwards, he is an
American football place kicker and forward on his high school
soccer team. He's good too! Wow, He wants to play in England one
day. What a coincidence.
Trevor Hallatt says: I saw Keith Edwards play in both his spells
at Sheffield United. He's the best goalscorer I've ever seen. He
had terrific pace and was a deadly finisher. He was also very
strong and a great header of the ball for someone so small. It was
a very sad day for the Blades when we sold him for the second time.
I remember one game in particular against Grimsby. Ian Porterfield
had dropped him to the bench and we went a goal down and had a
player injured. Edwards came on and scored 4 goals and made the
other in a 5-1 victory! I fondly remember many of his goals and
wish we had somebody as good up front now.
Matt Carrington asks: Do you know where i could contact Keith
Edwards?
Gary Yates says: Keith Edwards was a fantastic palyer hes my

david forbes says: 9 games, 2 goals. emminently forgettable as

Dave says: Keith Edwards living legend.now on BBC radio
Sheffield football, covering all blades matches."NOBODY PUTS THE
BALL IN THE NET LIKE SHEFFIELDS KEITH EDWARDS"
Tom says: I've seen Keith, in fact I was talking to him on New
year's eve / day. wooooooo
Matt Harland says: Once upon a time, I sent Keith a letter
telling him to lay off ma man Peter Ndlovu on the radio. One thing
led to another, and I ended up waking up on New Years day to the
sound of Keith's voice saying, 'Matt do you want a cup of tea?' A
true legend.
ReggieBlade says: Keith Edwards the greatest finisher in my 30
years of watching the Blades (sorry Bob Hatton.)
