Centre-forward who started his career with Manchester United but
was released to non-league Witton Albion before his league career
got underway. After a productive spell at Wrexham he was picked up
by Leeds but he found his position at centre forward soon occupied
by a certain player by the name of John Charles, so he moved on
soon after.
Emma Fidler says: He is my Grandpa.
Jack Fidler says: Made 1 appearance for Man.U v Brighton scored
only goal ! He aint heavy he's my Brother
Jack Fidler says: Might consider, but remember both Frank and I
are, and always have been, Manchester City supporters !
Jack Fidler says: Frank was educated at Windermere Grammar
School, where a certain Major Buckley (Wolves Manager) took an
interest, hence when Major Buckley managed Leeds, he was keen to
sign him - do you want more history ?
John Williamson says: I saw Frank Fidler play for Hereford
United on many occasions. He was with Hereford from 1957 to 1960
and scored 63 goals in 105 games. He was in the Hereford side that
beat Queens Park Rangers 6-1 in an FA Cup game - the record victory
by a non-league side against a Football League side in the
competition. Frank didn't score that day, but as his record shows
he was a prolific scorer in his time at Edgar Street. In those days
the record books weren't so accurate (no Rothmans Yearbooks then),
and I believe that when he signed for Hereford he was said to be
aged 28 !
Michael Manning says: Frank Fidler is my next door
neighbour.
Louise Fidler says: He is my fantastic grandpa! I think its
great that he has played for so many football teams, he is my claim
to fame!
