Signed from Scottish junior football in 1951, Archie Gibson was
originally an inside forward, but it was a switch to right half
that finally brought him into the team on a regular basis in the
mid 1950s. Once in the squad, he became a permanent fixture, but
left in 1960 as relegation resulted in a massive clear-out of
players. Subsequently appeared for both Scunthorpe and
Barnsley.
