A Geordie centre back/left back who signed for Leeds for a
bargain £45,000 in 1986, Peter Haddock suffered a series of
injuries that limited his appearances for Leeds when he first
joined, but under Howard Wilkinson he became a crucial part of the
defensive unit that won promotion in 1989-90 and was Wilko's choice
as Player of the Year. No doubt he could have gone on to be an
effective squad member for several years beyond that but for a
freak injury sustained in the second leg of the League Cup
semi-final against Manchester United that ended his career.
Shaun O'Neill says: my friend is his son.
Simon Riddlesden says: I had a fight with his son.
Neil Spofforth says: 'Fish' as he was affectionatly known was my
favorite player and a colosus at centre half the season Leeds
United won promotion. My 1st live game was the 4 - 2 victory over
Swindon Town when Fish got his only goal for the whites.
mark says: I saw Peter Haddock play many a game for Leeds United
during the great late 80's he was a solid defender. Not many
players got passed him he ALWAYS gave 110%. If he was a player in
todays game he'd be worth millions. Thats not Taking the Piss
either.
Carl Haddock says: peter haddock is my dad and we now live in
newcastle.even though we live in newcastle im a avid leeds
surrporter.probably because i was born there and my dad played for
them.
Declan Box says: peters son carl is my only friend in school
Simon Riddlesden says: Sorry about the fight,i am still bruised
though i want sweet revenge!!!!!!!!!
Jordan Blackman says: simon riddlesden is a liar and he did not
give peter haddocks a black eye
helen kerr says: i went to school with his son peter and still
hang around with him, my best mate vicky lewis is going out with
him and has been for the past 2 years
Sean Truby says: yeah, i am friends with carl haddock (chad), i
know big Pete aswell. didn't know about the fight like.
Wayne Doherty says: I met the legend that is Peter Haddock in
Watson & Cairnes Cycle shop in leeds in the early 90's. Top
bloke! I was only a little lad and it was quite a thrill to get the
man's autograph. I knew it was Haddock bit as is usual with
embarrasing dad's my dad had to to tap him on the shoulder and ask
if he was Peter Haddock! Memories!
Javaid Mehar says: Peter was one of(if not the best of) Billys
best buys. It was tragedy for Peter and LUFC that his career ended
just as it was begining. He was top player, Marks not kidding that
Peter would be worth millions in todays market.
Michael Clayton says: He was so good that he went almost
unnoticed. I remember Wilko dropping him for the 4-0 home trouncing
of Sheff Utd - claiming that he was injured. More a case of
preferring John McLellan in for the battle with Billy
Whitehurst.
