Cyril Hornby was a versatile midfielder/forward who started out
as a fill-in player at Leeds before getting a regular slot in the
side in 1933-34. After a brief spell at Sunderland, he returned to
Midlands side Oakengate Town - from where he joined Leeds - as
player and manager.
Rosemary Windeatt says: Cyril (Cecil) Hornby was my uncle, my
mother's eldest brother. Unfortunately he had finished playing
before I was born.
Sonya Hornby says: He is my Granddad and his ashes were spread
on the West Bromwich Albion Football Ground
