Signed from non-league Stalybridge Celtic for £3,000 at
the comparatively late age of 25, Eric Kerfoot was one of the best
buys the club ever made. An excellent and enterprising wing-half,
Kerfoot was a key part of the side that won promotion to Division 1
in 1956 having captained the side in 1954-55. When he eventually
moved on to Chesterfield, they had a less than successful season
and he was released at the end of the year. He died in 1980.
Steve Dunn says: Eric was my uncle. In the late 60's and 70's he
ran the Liston Public House on Cheetham Hill Rd, Dukinfield which
is just on the border with Stalybridge.
Robert Kerfoot says: I would like to find out whether I am any
relation of Eric Kerfoot. My name is Robert Kerfoot, son of
William Kerfoot born 18/04/1938 in Leeds.
Geoff Kerfoot says: My name is Geoff Kerfoot and Eric was my
uncle. I will try to find a suitable picture for this site in the
near future.
Joseph Geoffrey Kerfoot Dean says: Eric Kerfoot is a possible
relation as my grandmother was a Kerfoot, and I inherited the name
from her.
Stan Jackson says: are u sure eric kerfoot has died
