Jabba's Comments

Billy McAdams was a well-established player when his former Manchester City team-mate Don Revie persuaded him to come to Leeds to help boost the side's struggle to climb out of Division 2. He only stayed at Elland Road for 7 months, before moving down to London, where he helped Brentford to the Division 4 title. An accomplished international, he scored a hat-trick against West Germany in a World Cup qualifier and was desperately unlucky to miss the 1960 FA Cup Final when a back injury kept him out of Bolton's squad.

He remained in Barrow after his retirement, enjoying his golf but battling against ME before his death in October 2002 - the image above was scanned in from the North Western Evening Mail of Monday 14 October - thanks to Ralph Sheppard for that.

Jimmy Hewson says: l did a testimonial game for Billy in 1994 in Barrow-in-Furness Cumbria Barrow AFC v Man City. I wrote off to Peter Reid who was then Man city Manager Billy was suffering from ME at the time, Billy lives two minutes away from me.Billy is currently in Furness General Hospital on ward 9. If you need any other information do not hesitate to contact me .

R Marshall says: Billy sadly died yesterday in Barrow. Saw him play in the brilliant Barrow side of 1967/68.

Janice McAdams says: I am Billy McAdams' daughter. My dad has just died after a short illness which was cancer. The rest of my family and myself are going to Maine Road to scatter his ashes.

Brian Cross says: I saw Billy play many times for Brentford. One thing I noticed, apart from the unusual amounts of skill he possessed for a no.9. Whet he shot, he always kept the ball low. If he was on target, the keeper had no chance

David Grimmett says: One of the best goals i ever saw scored was when he was playing for Brentford. The shot was low and like a bullet going into the net.A real 'old style' centre forward.Absolutely great.

sam mcadams says: im sam mcadams billys grandson

Melissa says: I am Melissa,i am billy mcadams grand daughter. He was a real good man and did everything for me.

melissa says: I am billys grandaughter janice mcadams daughter.he was a really good man and helped me out with alot of things he used to also take me and my friend jade to the park when we were younger.
