Jabba's Comments |
Andy McCall had played in illustrious company in his spell at
Blackpool - playing alongside Mortensen and Matthews around 1950. A
capable player, he found himself used as back-up to Ray Iggleden
and Albert Nightingale, and it was only in the 1954-55 season that
he found himself a regular place in the side. His son Stuart is a
much-travelled midfielder (Everton, Rangers, Bradford) - and it was
while watching his son play at Valley Parade in 1986 that Andy was
hurt in the terrible fire that killed many others at the
ground.
Broxi says: Andy is a smashing bloke who is still staying in
Leeds, met him a few times while watching his son play for Glasgow
Rangers if he is anything like Stuart he would have been a joy to
watch.

Have your say
Did you see Andy McCall play? Did you meet him in a pub, go to
school with him, decorate his house or buy a motor from him? If
you've got any comments or stories about Andy McCall on or off the
pitch, just fill in the form below and (provided they're not
blatantly libellous) I'll add them to this page. And just a quick
note to the spammers who try to add their links to this page by
attempting to get round the client-side validation: don't bother -
the server side does similar checks and throws your garbage
straight into the bit bucket.
