A pocket battleship of a centre-half, Jackie McGugan had made a
good impression at St Mirren and was in the Scottish U-23 side
before moving to Leeds. After just one game in 7 months - and
several injuries - he moved on to Tranmere for what was then a club
record fee. He later played non-league football in the
south-east.
Graham McGugan says: My name is Wade Graham McGugan. I live in
Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA. My grandfathers name was John
Graham McGugan. He was born, raised and died in Robinson County,
North Carolina. He was a good man and I am proud to be his
grandson. I thought you might be interested.

Eric McPhail says: Met Jack in Corfu in 1987. I remember him
telling me that he won a Scottish Cup Winners Medal with St.Mirren
in 1959, and he got send home from international duty because of a
'late' night, and his room-mate Denis Law didn't get back at all.
He was a publican when I met him. A really down to earth kind of
guy.
