Picked up from Burnley for £8000, Shackleton got off to a
good start at Leeds, including an early hat-trick, but he was
allowed to move to Everton and found his scoring touch deserting
him. After spells with Nelson and Oldham, he left the professional
ranks and played non-league football in the south.

Jess Shackleton says: I know that Alan is a very down to earth
man and i love him dearly as he is my dad. He was a legend and
still is with all the stories he still tells me to this day.
