Ian Snodin was a creative midfielder, 3 years younger than
brother Glynn, who was sold to Leeds by Billy Bremner when Bremner
was in charge at Doncaster, and it was Bremner who sold him again
when he was in charge at Leeds. Not that Billy had anything against
Snodin: he was a very talented player who played 4 times for the
England U-21 side while he was still at Doncaster. In just 18
months at Elland Road, Snodin became a key part of the team and was
hugely popular, but to allow him to further his career - and to
bank some money - he was allowed to move to Everton. Switching to
right-back, he picked up a League Champions medal in 1987 and was
on the point of breaking into the full England side when hit by a
long-term injury that seriously restricted his career. He ended up
with Doncaster - relegated from the Football League - and was
manager there from 1998-2000, with the odd and very occasional
appearance himself when the need arose, his one mistake being that
he failed to realise that he was their best player and pick himself
more often.
Graham Cant says: Ian Snodin is the best footballer I have ever
seen play live. This was for Doncaster Rovers in the days of the
late great Billy Bremner. Rovers knocked QPR (then top division)
out of the FA Cup and Snodin was superb that day, totally eclipsing
the then England international John Gregory. Surely Ian should have
played for England...sadly injuries took their toll.
Dave Ward says: Snodin but for injuries would have been a
regular England player for years. He had everything a player
needed. Pure class

Chris Marsden says: After Bremner and Batty the best No. 4 Leeds
Utd have ever had. The best passer of a ball I've seen at Elland
Road and a amn nice bloke - enjoyed a pint or two with him at a
Worksop Supporters club 'Player of the Season' night (after he'd
moved to Everton).
