Eddie Gray picked this centre-back from non-league obscurity and although he played a few games for Leeds, he never quite made it as a regular. He played 5 games with Doncaster Rovers on loan before making the move permanenent and going on to become Rovers' captain in a two year spell at Belle Vue.

Cheers to Rochdale's programme editor Mark Wilbraham for the photo.

Martin says: Worked with Tony Brown at Royal London Insurance circa 1992. He became a financial adviser but left to pursue other areas soon after. He was a nice guy and I believe Dennis Irwin of MAN U is one of his close pals, oh well I suppose Dennis is about the best of a bad lot. Where r u now TONY! do you remember me.. Martin Josephson, Norman Potter (rip) and David Silver email me please.
