John Pemberton joined Leeds in 1993 to help shore up a defence
that had lost its way after winning the Championship a year
previously. He did a great job, playing mainly at centreback, with
the fans appreciating his whole-hearted - if sometimes clumsy -
interventions.
Chris Hobson says: pembos the most underrated leeds player
ever(cheers for autograph pembo) ur my fav all time player.
johnny lord says: best thing he did was nack collymore
Luke Cullen says: Pembo was spot on. As the caption says, he
wasn't the best defender technically but always gave 100%. He used
to always have run ins with Andrew Cole, too. Oh, and he was on
Blue Peter once singing Crystal Palace's 1990 FA Cup fnal song.
Julie says: I was his biggest fan when he was at Crystal Palace.
I remember seeing him in our victory over Liverpool in the 1990 FA
Cup semi final, his gorgous legs in those shorts... wow (I am a
female by the way, love to know what he's doing these days.
Mark says: I remember him playing against Middlesbrough at
Elland Road in about 1995. John Hendrie had been flattened down by
the North East corner flag. He berated the clumsy Pembo for nearly
killing him. Pemberton waited until the ref turned his back and
wallop! He twatted him right in the mouth, knocking him down. That
is my favourite Pembo moment.
Sue says: I remember John from Crystal Palace, a trip to Villa
and how his run changed the whole game and then of course a trip to
Wembley to meet Man U. WHERE IS HE NOW. (and yes I agree he did
look good in shorts and very cute!)
