Nigel Worthington was yet another one of the ex-Owls that Wilko
brought to Elland Road during his tenure. He won the League Cup
with Wednesday in 1991 and appeared in the FA Cup Final defeat by
Arsenal the following year. He was approaching 33 when he signed
for Leeds and provided useful cover for Tony Dorigo who was
increasingly prone to injuries. Never really popular with the fans
- simply because he wasn't Dorigo for most - he did a pretty decent
job for Leeds. He went on to be player/manager at Blackpool, where
he picked up several of the youngsters released by Leeds, and is
currently in charge at Norwich City.
Katie says: I think that Nigel Worthington is really fit for a
40 year old man!
Alex Huxley says: I was his son, Adam Worthingtons, best friend
for quite a while when he played at Sheffield wednesday and met his
Father, Nigel, quite alot.
johnny lord says: i was never quite sure if nige was still alive
when he played for LUFC he gave no hints of life whilst on the
pitch
Cloverfieldcanary says: Nigel Worthington is proving his worth
as a manager - which will lead to Norwich City being back in the
Premiership - somewhere Leeds Utd will not be for much longer
Fedders says: Be quiet, Norwich will never be on the same
landscape as Leeds.
ste says: Cloverfieldcanary you are a dick - with a daft name,
dont slag off Leeds, Nigel is a better manager than a player - he
didnt deserve to wear our white - we may not be in the Premiership
but we are LEEDS
Still Ste says: Also my petal, Worthingtons strengths as a
player were his dependable but predictable ways, nothing fancy,
creative or adventurous - much like your wifes habits. Dorigo was
more like your mum - forward and outgoing - ATTRACTIVE!!! We'll see
how long Norwich last with the big boys Mr. Canary, peace out.
