Paul Beesley is a battling centre-back/left back signed from
Sheffield United in the latter days of Howard Wilkinson's reign at
Elland Road. He was used mainly as defensive cover, a task which he
performed with enthusiasm and commitment, although he was no Paul
Madeley. He moved on to Manchester City after a season and a half
at Leeds. He's went on to Port Vale, where he managed to clock up
12 bookings in a season and earn a date with the FA. After a season
at Blackpool he moved on to Chester, who were relegated to the GM
Vauxhall Conference.
He moved on from Chester to Stalybridge Celtic in October
2001.
Pete says: Paul is currently the kit man at Stockport County.
Had a drink with him the night before the game vs. Rushden &
Diamonds 27/09/03. He's a cracking lad with a sharp sense of humour
- can put a few beers away too!
Ste says: Pete is correct about Paul he seemed as though he
could put the beers away whilst he was at leeds, particularly
directly before kick off. Well he was either p****d or a ridiculous
excuse for a professional footballer, he wouldnt have got in my 5
a-side league never mind the Premier league - gives us all hope
though! P.S Nice weird hair doo.
jake says: 'Beesley for england' was the ironic chant of the
leeds faitful!
Ste again says: Thanks for that Jake. But those chants were not
ironic - and if they were I dont think that its funny makin a
mockery out of Leeds utds selection system - Beesley should have
never been allowed in leeds never mind our startin 11.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
