Jabba's Comments |
Ted Burgin had a long career in which he came close to top
honours without ever quite making it. He played for England's B
team, went on 2 FA tours and made an appearance for Rochdale in the
1962 League Cup Final. He was still playing the game when, aged
nearly 40, he took over as player-manager of Glossop Town, and
coached several other non-league teams.
Mike Franklin says: The first time I saw Ted play was at
Bloomfield Road in either 1959 or 1960. I went with my uncle and
aunt, i was 10 at the time. I played in goal for my school at the
time and every time I made a save I said Ted Burgin to the rescue.
Not suprisingly I got the nickname of Burgs which I kept right up
to my early 20's.

Have your say
Did you see Ted Burgin play? Did you meet him in a pub, go to
school with him, decorate his house or buy a motor from him? If
you've got any comments or stories about Ted Burgin on or off the

blatantly libellous) I'll add them to this page. And just a quick
note to the spammers who try to add their links to this page by
attempting to get round the client-side validation: don't bother -
the server side does similar checks and throws your garbage
straight into the bit bucket.
