Jabba's Comments

A surprise signing in the wake of JFH's departure, Huckerby made his debut at Old Trafford. 18 months earlier and you'd have thought "Wow! We've got Huckerby!", but after injury problems and his failure to grab a regular place at Coventry, there were a few hard questions he needed to answer. "A scorer of great goals, but not a great goalscorer" is how Gordon Strachan summed him up - which is probably a fair call: it's now up to him to fulfil his potential somewhere.

"Forrest Gump" - as he is nicknamed by some of the fans - was a permanent bench-warmer in 1999-2000, making a total of 35 appearances as a sub, and he didn't really take the few goal chances that he received. After just three starts in 2000-01, he was sold to Manchester City just after Christmas, but his presence for the Blues wasn't enough to help them stave off relegation.

Back down in Division 1, he faced some competition for a starting place at first, but he formed a good partnership with Shaun Goater and scored hat-tricks in two home games in a row to cement his place as a starter. Now he's back in the top flight and facing better defenders he's got another chance to prove the doubters wrong and show the world what he can do. With the arrival of Robbie Fowler at Maine Road in 2003, it looks like he's surplus to requirements and went on loan to Forest from the end of February to the end of the season, helping his hometown side to play-offs but just missing out on promotion.

Darren Bon says: I think Huckerby will play regularly only if he learns how to pass the ball and play a team's style. His failure at Leeds was down to this weakness.

Joe Dent says: Huckerby should sign for Norwich, he loves the place!!!

Hugh says: Darren has been a 'hit single' during his loan time at Norwich (October to Decemeber 2003). He is very good at playing about with First division defences, and agreed he does not score enough goals. At times you would not know he is your team. After the recent salary negotiation farce at Norwich... I suspect he wants money before success. Pity he plays about too much.

Alex Brady says: Huckerby is a great talent and i'm glad he has signed for my club Norwich City.P.S.We are going up

Rob says: Another great goal and performance against Wimbledon on Sat.Five points clear now.Darren has made a big difference to NCFC,a bargain.

Teo Armes says: He has added a new dimension to the way we play and many teams in division 1 can't handle him. I like his stupid haircut the best and think that is the real reason why he ghosts past defenders....they are too busy laughing.

jaffa davey says: darren is the best!!! no one can catch him hes to fast!!!

Dan says: I wonder how he will fare against premiership defences, will he remain a favourite at carrow rd.

Duncan aged 8 says: He is my favourite player for Norwich City. I like him because he scores and makes loads of goals and he is really exciting to watch
