Madrid at the very end of the transfer window in January 2002. Kept
out of the Madrid side by Roberto Carlos, he sees this as a
temporary move to keep his name in the mind of the Spanish national
coach rather than a prelude to signing for Leeds - and since the
sell-on clause in his contract values him at £16 million it's
hard to see Leeds being able to afford him!
