French centre-back picked up on a year's loan from RC Lens by
Peter Reid.
Camara came onto the scene in the French Second Division at
Saint-Etienne, where he came to the attention of Internazionale.
But like several other players who have moved to the San Siro
(well, Robbie Keane) he found himself unable to get a game for the
first team, and after a loan spell at Empoli, was back in France
for a season at Bastia. A move to Marseille improved his profile -
his one cap coming in the Confederations Cup. A move to Lens wasn't
entirely successful - injuries and a dispute with the coach over
him being played out of position restricted him to just 14 games
last season.
He had a decent start to his Leeds career, scoring a goal at
Boro and generally looking okay when played alongside Radebe or
Matteo. But when paired with Roque Junior or Duberry, and with Paul
Robinson failing to organise from behind, he looked out of his
depth and was dropped once Eddie Gray took over as caretaker. He
had one final appearance at Southampton, and despite the fact that
Duberry and Harte had played at least as poorly alongside him, he
didn't even make it to the subs bench from there on in.
