Like Frank Butterworth, Coyne's only "real" appearances for
Leeds were in the 1945-46 FA Cup, but he played many games for the
club during the war. After a spell in non-league football, he
finally made his league debut at the age of 27 for Halifax.
Gillian Chappell says: I am Cyril Coyne's grand-daughter. When
he used to tell me his stories of playing for Leeds, I was very
proud,and thought of him as a 'famous footballer', and here this

Vicky Chappell says: Cyril Coyne was my grandfather as well. I
am very proud of him still I didn't know him until my grandma told
me about him even though I didn't know him I love him! And I love
Leeds as well so that is good i am glad he didn't play for any one
else!!
Paul Holroyd says: Cyril Coyne made just 4 appearances for
Halifax Town during 1951/52 after signing from Stalybridge
Celtic.
