Leeds United News from The Sporting Life    Yorkshire Evening Post

December 30: Derek Lilley goes on loan to Hearts and scores on his debut.

December 30: Lucas Radebe and David Batty are doubts for Saturday's FA Cup game at Nene Park, and with David Wetherall suspended for that game, the defence will be even more makeshift than before. Even though the opposition is not Arsenal or Man U, this could prove tighter than we'd hoped.

December 29: It is confirmed that Lee Sharpe will be moving to Sampdoria on loan for the rest of the season.

December 29: Squandering a lead once is bad enough - twice is criminal. Hopefully Harry's bash in the face won't be too serious because - despite the injuries at the back - the worrying shortages are up front: lose Harry and Jimmy and we'll drop like a stone. Even with Bowyer's goals and Hopkin's industry we're still 3 or 4 players short of the squad that we need to mount a serious title challenge.

December 26: Leeds game at Leicester, scheduled for Feb 27 has been put back to March 1 for Sky coverage.

December 26: Lee Sharpe could be making a loan move to Sampdoria very soon.

December 26: An excellent away victory for a Leeds side with a depleted defence at St. James' Park with goals from Harry, JFH and Bowyah!

December 25: It's Christmas Day, and all I want is our centrebacks fit and Gary Kelly back. And world peace, an end to hunger .... It seems that we're interested in Celtic's Alan Stubbs to cover up the gaps that are appearing in our defence: one more injury and O'Leary will be pulling his boots on again.

December 23: Is Lee Sharpe finally on his way? It seems that David Platt wants to make Sharpe his first acquisition at Sampdoria. How much he'll cost is another matter,

December 22: So there go our three first choice centre backs. With Hiden already put for the season and Radebe injured again, Molenaar's season-long absence will be very uncomfortable for us as we try to patch up the team and sustain the challenge for a European place.

December 16: David Batty and Lucas Radebe are both injury doubts for Sunday's televised game at Highbury. Batty picked up some bruised ribs in Monday night's game at Coventry (after tonight's 5-a-side I know how he feels) and Radebe twisted his knee in only his second game back from a knee injury.

December 14: David O'Leary appears to be on the point of agreeing a new contract. After an excellent start to his managerial career, the board obviously want to get his long-term commitment, and - we hope - give the club some consistent direction for the next few years. About time too!

December 14: A scrappy home win against Coventry sees Batty booked after 5 minutes (surprise surprise) and a worrying injury to Lucas Radebe. Nigel Martyn produces a superb performance, saving Leeds on several occasions to win the Man of the Match award.
