A midfielder/defender who never really managed to make the big
breakthrough at Leeds but went on to enjoy a successful Premier
League career with Leicester and Villa. He won the League Cup with
Leicester in 1997 and looked to be doing well at Blackburn when his
career was stalled for financial reasons: if he played a 40th game
for the Ewood Park club they'd be forced to pay out more money.
Consequently he got a few games on loan before being released in
summer 2002.
He was picked up by Blackpool last season and barely missed a
game, playing at full back or in the centre of the defence and
captaining the side for most of the season.
Hazel and Carolanne Clark say: We have met Simon Grayson a few
times when he came to Notts County on loan. After he left at the
end of the season we brought the shirt he'd worn on the pitch that
season. We've met him since when he returned to Meadow Lane with
Blackpool and he has sent us a nice letter with signed photos. He's
a really nice guy and a good player.
Sarah says: Simon Grayson is my uncle and I am so proud of
him
