Compact centre-forward who joined Leeds from local football in
1942. Didn't make his full league debut until after Leeds'
disastrous relegation season and did well when given his chance in
Division 2. After two seasons in the side he was swapped with
Southend for Frank Dudley.
John Wright says: met him in hospital 10 of july 2002 in
Southend. He is fine but his wife was unwell. Looks very fit, still
smokes and has all his marbles. After Southend he played for
Clacton but still lives in Southend
Robert Thompson says: Albert Wakefield is my Graddads uncle. He
wasn't born in pudsey he was born in Pontifract. But his sister was
born in pudsey. He still lives in southend and he is doing
well.
