Compact Scottish forward who was picked up by the club as a
16-year-old and made his debut at the age of 17. The following
season he became a regular, and his goal-scoring talents looked
like they had a promising future at the club. After a couple of
injuries, he found himself sidelined and subsequently sold to
Oldham by Billy Bremner. His one and only international honour came
as a substitute in an U-21 game against Belgium. His best spell as
a player probably came during his time at Leicester, when he held
down a regular place for 3 years and picked up a respectable number
of goals: his time at Boro was less productive with injuries
starting to prove his undoing.
