A versatile player who has played at just about every position
at the back (and as a midfielder), Halle was being lined up to join
Leeds before Wilko was fired and became George Graham's first
signing (and not a bung in sight!). Halle can be an infuriating
player to watch - in the space of five minutes he will make a great
tackle, clear the ball off the line....and then slip and let
somebody in or pass the ball to an opposition player in the area.
The positives outweigh the negatives at the moment, but I'm never
100% confident when I see him under pressure.
With first team opportunities limited, he moved on to Bradford
for £200,000 in summer 1999. He did pretty well at Bradford,
but with financial problems biting at the club, he was released in
summer 2002 and returned to his native Norway to join
Lillestrom.
wayne garcia says: I had the pleasure of meeting Gunnar Halle
yesterday in a bar in Lillestrøm, here in Norway. He was
drinking with Uwe Rosler and Jan Age Fjortoft, whom will all be
manager and coaches at Lillestrøm from next season. Gunnar
spoke about how he had a great time at Oldham and Leeds, He
mentioned a game at Highbury where Leeds won 1-0 (?) possibly a cup
match, i think he mentioned. He is now a coach at a 4th div club in
Norway. He will be assisting Uwe Rosler as assistant manager next
year at Lillestrøm.
