The Times, Sunday Times and Telegraph now seem to
require registration to view articles on their sites, with the
Times and Sunday Times charging readers outside the UK. The
Times/Sunday Times has also moved some of the older articles into
an archive which requires separate registration and requires you to
pay to access the content. The Independent now charges for access
to articles more than a week old.
Perhaps the most remarkable thing about the predictable calls
for Kevin Blackwell's head on another fruitless afternoon for his
Leeds team, was that they were followed by the beleaguered manager
being applauded off the pitch by many of the travelling fans. But,
whether it was sympathy or solidarity, the fact is that United are
still one from bottom and Blackwell's tenure looks shakier by the
day.
After a match where his players missed numerous chances to
salvage the point that would have kept United out of the relegation
zone, Blackwell was terse when asked about his future at the club
where he has been part of the coaching staff since 2003. He was
backed by the director Peter Lorimer but, with league games against
Birmingham and West Bromwich to come this month, his discussions
with the chairman Ken Bates could soon become frosty.
