The Times, Sunday Times and Telegraph now seem to
require registration to view articles on their sites, with the
Times and Sunday Times charging readers outside the UK. The
Times/Sunday Times has also moved some of the older articles into
an archive which requires separate registration and requires you to
pay to access the content. The Independent now charges for access
to articles more than a week old.
Danny Pugh finally ended Leeds United's lengthy wait for a goal.
Their drought had lasted for more than seven hours when the former
Manchester United winger struck to extend Preston's dreadful away
record.
It ensured a victory that this lethargic Leeds team hardly
deserved, but nobody could dispute Pugh's right to emerge as the
match-winner with his sixth goal of the season.
It was an appropriate reward for Pugh's industry and
intelligence down United's left flank, adding to the belief that
his arrival in the summer on a free transfer was one of the
shrewder recent moves by a troubled club.
